As already promised, SwitchBot keeps its word and gives more devices of the ecosystem a Matter update, thanks to the SwitchBot Hub 2.

With the latest SwitchBot app version 7.4 and the new Hub 2 firmware version 1.0-0.9, the popular SwitchBot Bot with pushbutton arm, SwitchBot Contact Sensor and SwitchBot Motion Sensor are now made available through Matter in HomeKit.

It is also best to make sure that all other SwitchBot devices always have the latest firmware. The sensors are each operated with two AAA batteries, which provide a long runtime accordingly. As usual with SwitchBot, the connection to the hub is made via the energy-saving and fast Bluetooth LE 5.0.

The sensitivity of the motion sensor can be adjusted with three options in the SwitchBot app settings. 0-2 meters, 2-5 meters and 5-9 meters. The sensor can be triggered every 8-10 seconds.

The sensors have a relatively compact size, are very well manufactured and look modern due to the rounded edges.
In addition to movements, the motion detector also detects the brightness of the environment. And even the contact sensor also has this additional function integrated. However, the brightness sensor is not considered via the Matter integration. The contact sensor can be triggered from both sides. The SwitchBot app can even be used to configure the integrated motion detector in the contact sensor, which then detects whether the sensor is triggered when entering or leaving.

As with the previous SwitchBot Curtain, SwitchBot Blind Tilt and SwitchBot Lock devices, which can be connected via the SwitchBot Hub 2 and Matter, the now compatible sensors are connected to Matter via the SwitchBot app.

Afterwards, SwitchBot Bot, contact sensor and motion sensor are immediately available in HomeKit and can be controlled as usual, as well as integrated into scenes and automations. The devices react immediately to a status change in our test.
