Matter is the new smarthome standard that is designed to work not only with Apple HomeKit, but also with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings and more. With Google, another major player is now taking off.

While Apple has set all the course for Matter since Tuesday with the release of iOS 16.2, Google is now also ready for the new smarthome standard. According to the company, Matter for Google Home is available now on Nest and Android devices.

This allows Eve Systems’ Matter devices to connect to Google Nest and Android devices, among others. The devices have been updated automatically and nothing more needs to be done.

In addition, “Fast Pair” is now available on Android devices. The Google Home iOS app is also to receive a corresponding update. However, this is not planned until the beginning of 2023.
