Updates for Smarthome systems from Bosch and IKEA

Bosch and IKEA have recently released updates for their smarthome systems. At Bosch, the focus is on bug fixes. Among other things, the Yale Linus Smart Lock can be integrated again and a bug where the light/roller shutter control II switched independently has been fixed.

IKEA’s updates include support for two new products in addition to improvements for the TRÅDFRI Gateway, DIRIGERA Hub, wireless dimmer, blinds and some lamps. You can find all the information in this post.

Apple unveils new software updates at WWDC

This week, the Worldwide Developers Conference took place, in which Apple presented the new major operating system versions on a rotational basis at the opening event.

Apple Watch gets a revamped Home app with watchOS 10

The Apple Watch has probably undergone the biggest change with watchOS 10. The Home app has been completely redesigned and is now based on the iPhone and iPad app.

Meross releases solar powered temperature and humidity sensor

Meross has released a new temperature and humidity sensor that is said to provide extended battery life of more than six years using a solar cell. The sensor, which can be integrated into Apple Home via a hub, switches to solar operation from a brightness of 350 lux, reducing the power consumption of the included CR2477 coin cell.

Aqara offers paid cloud storage

Aqara has updated its own app to version 3.2.5 this week. Besides some improvements, bug fixes and support for Japanese, Aqara has added a cloud offering.

While recording storage is free for 7 days, 30 days is $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year. The subscription can be concluded via the app after the update. Payment is not made via an in-app purchase, but via PayPal. Questionable how this slipped through App Store scrutiny.

The Aqara U100, a new smartlock that allows convenient opening via home key, has been launched in the USA and Canada. All you have to do is hold your iPhone or Apple Watch up to the lock to open it.
