There was some smart home news this week: Bosch released a new firmware for its smart home controller, Meross launched a new contact sensor, and Netatmo joined as a new partner with a discount code for its own online store. There’s also a new table lamp from Yeelight with Matter support, and Nanoleaf is offering new Essentials lamps with Thread and Matter compatibility. Also, the Aqara video doorbell has been launched. However, this was quickly sold out.
New contact sensor from Meross
Meross has released a new contact sensor that, like the manufacturer’s other sensors, requires the company’s own hub. The sensor uses RF433MHz and is connected to the Wi-Fi via the hub. It is compatible with Apple HomeKit, but not with Matter.
Matrix, Panel, Spot: Yeelight Cube table lamp with Matter
It announced itself a few weeks ago, the very special Yeelight Cube table lamp with Matter. Now it is (almost) here. The brand new Yeelight Cube Smart Lamp is now available for pre-order on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, starting at $114 USD.
In HomeKit, the light is quickly added thanks to Matter, but only offers basic functionality there. We’ll show you what to expect from the new Yeelight Cube Smart Lamp in our review.
Launch Nanoleaf Essentials with Matter
Nanoleaf has released new Essentials lamps with Matter and Thread pre-order in the first countries. The lamps are available with A19, BR30 and GU10 sockets, as well as recessed spotlights, and can be used with various Smarthome platforms, including Apple HomeKit.
However, the new lamps do not support HomeKit’s Adaptive Lighting feature, but instead offer the manufacturer’s own Circadian Lighting feature. Currently, the lamps are available for pre-order in the manufacturer’s U.S. online store and are scheduled to begin shipping in mid-April.
Aqara video doorbell sold out
That was fast: Launched on Thursday on Amazon with a discount code, the doorbell was sold out the same day. Not surprisingly, the doorbell supports HomeKit Secure Video, can additionally store recordings on a microSD card, and can be both hardwired and powered by six AA batteries.
As soon as the HomeKit video doorbell is available again, we will inform you. Use our app to make sure you don’t miss any news.
New firmware for Bosch Smart Home Controller
Bosch has recently released a new firmware for the Smart Home Controller that includes new features and improvements. The time programs for radiator thermostats, room thermostats and floor heating can now be adjusted more precisely. The operating concept has also been improved to make it easier to program temperature schedules.
The light/shutter control II can now also be used in HomeKit if it is connected as “awning”. Furthermore, several bugs have been fixed. By the way, there is now the successor Smart Home Controller 2. It is supposed to support Matter in the future.
Netatmo as a new partner
In our overview of current HomeKit offers, we have also been offering permanent discounts in stores from friends and partners for quite some time. Eve Systems, Meross and SwitchBot as well as many other manufacturers are represented there with their own discount codes.
We’re happy to announce that Netatmo has now joined in and is giving you a 15% discount in their own online store with the code “SMAPF-15”.
