Aqara has released a firmware update for the Camera Hub G3 today. Besides some bug fixes, the hub supports the new smarthome standard Matter after installation.
After Aqara has already released several Matter updates for its own hubs in the last few months, today it’s the turn of the Camera Hub G3. With the new firmware, the hub can be used with the devices connected via Zigbee through Matter.

At this point, it should be mentioned that only the function as a hub is available via Matter. The camera, on the other hand, is not, since Matter does not currently support security cameras.
Versatile hub with camera
The Aqara Camera Hub G3 is also in use at our company and is our favorite hub from Aqara. The camera, which can be panned and tilted, supports HomeKit Secure Video and can disappear into the housing when needed. Even if hackers get access to the camera, they will not see anything when we are at home. You can find our complete test here.

We recommend all HomeKit users to do without the integration via Matter at this time. Devices that already natively support HomeKit usually offer even more functions aside from Matter currently. Greetings go out to our friends at HomeKitNews who were the first to spot the update.
