Sonoff is a well-known manufacturer of low-cost smarthome devices. Until now the products could only be integrated into Apple Home in a roundabout way. However, that should change soon when Sonoff releases its first Matter device.

With the Sonoff MINIR4M, the successor of the already available MINIR4 is to be released in May. The particularly compact flush-mounted module is designed to integrate existing light switches into the smarthome.

In this case, the switch can be decoupled from the connected load. For example, if you have an intelligent light source in use and do not want the power to be interrupted via the switch, this is no problem with the Sonoff MINIR4M.

While the predecessor model can only be integrated into Amazon Alexa and Google Home, the new version should also support Apple Home and other smart home systems via Matter.

If the new model is also priced like its predecessor, it would be an absolute stunner with a suggested retail price of just $9.90 and would finally bring the benefits of Matter to the HomeKit world. Namely, devices that could not previously be integrated into Apple Home will officially support Apple’s smart home platform via Matter.
