Smartwings is adding official HomeKit integration to its range of smart blinds via Thread, our friends at HomeKitNews have discovered. The new motor can now be selected during configuration.

The three different variants of Smartwings offer customers a wide range of control options. The first variant uses Smartwing’s own remote control, which can control up to 15 blinds simultaneously or individually. The second variant uses Zigbee and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings. The third and last variant is equipped with the official HomeKit integration via Thread.

Smartwings offers custom blinds in a variety of materials, including roller shades, Zebra shades, honeycomb blinds and even Outdoor Shades. Compared to pre-made blinds from IKEA, of course, the prices are significantly higher, compared to offers from Lutron (high-end) and Eve MotionBlinds (mid-range), but still competitive.

There is no official information yet on whether the blinds will be compatible with Matter in the future. However, thanks to the radio connection via Thread, the chances are good.

On the website, Smartwings has released a special page about the new Thread. The new motor can now be selected when configuring the blinds. Shipping is free of charge worldwide.
