Actually, Aqara wanted to provide the Hub M2 with a Matter-Update in December, we reported. However, the manufacturer still needs a bit more time and has postponed the update to next year.

Aqara has a wide range of different smarthome devices. These rely predominantly on Zigbee for connectivity, which is why a corresponding hub is needed.

The Aqara Hub M2 was supposed to be the first hub to receive a new firmware supporting Matter before the end of this year. Devices connected to the hub can then also be controlled via Matter. More than 40 devices will be supported at the start.

However, as our colleague Jon from HomeKit Authority now reports, the update is supposed to be delayed. Currently, selected beta testers have already installed the new Matter firmware and are diligently giving feedback. In order to provide the best user experience possible, they want to take more time to implement the feedback. Accordingly, the new firmware will not be released until next year.

Thank you, Christian!
