Admittedly, we resisted an electric curtain track system for a long time. Too expensive, too inflexible, the assembly too complex. But that has now changed abruptly with the new Zemismart Matter over Thread curtain system.
The system is available in lengths from 2.1 meters up to 7.1 meters. The individual rail components are excellently processed and are connected to each other easily and without tools to the desired length via a clamping system.
Inside there is a steel belt, which provides a very smooth, gentle as well as quiet opening and closing of the curtain system. The belt does not have to be laboriously threaded or cut to size, as is the case with other systems. Once you have put everything together to the length that suits you and connect it to the power for the first time, the set will position itself automatically. Thus, the middle, closed position and the outer, open position are set up correctly.
The side motor, which conveniently snaps into its mount, also works powerfully but quietly, with three adjustable speed settings. It has a C7 Euro plug for the power connection, but can also optionally be operated with a USB-C cable. In addition, a battery is installed, which serves for up to seven days of bridging in case of a lack of power supply.
Screws and brackets for ceiling mounting are directly included in the package. Thus, the entire assembly was done in less than 30 minutes. Curtain hooks are not included. You need to buy appropriate curtain hooks that are suitable for your particular type and style of curtains.
We only had to use a drill to attach the ceiling brackets. Otherwise, the Zemismart curtain system is virtually plug-and-play.
In Apple HomeKit, the Zemismart curtain system is also quickly and reliably integrated. Scanned the Matter code via the Home app and within moments the curtain is available for control via Siri and in scenes and automations. Since the curtain system works via Thread, a border router such as a HomePod or Apple TV is recommended. Alternatively, Bluetooth is used. Thanks to Matter, the system can also be passed on directly to Google, Alexa and SmartThings via the pairing mode if necessary. According to the manufacturer, firmware updates are also distributed directly via the Home app and Matter. A physical remote control is also included in the set for further control.
We were surprised by the quick and easy installation of the Zemismart curtain track system. The workmanship is excellent, and the almost silent opening and closing of the curtain thrills us.
Only to find the right curtain and adjust it to the right width, if you like it exactly, was a challenge. Even our specialist, from whom we commissioned a curtain, was briefly in despair. If the curtain is too tight and there is even a slight tension on the pull hook, the “power-assistant” sensor reacts immediately and the curtain does not close completely. The sensor thinks someone is pulling on the curtain, and it opens again a bit automatically. Therefore, when choosing the width of the curtain, be sure to choose a few centimeters wider curtain fabric.
We think that the price of the Zemismart Matter over Thread Slide Curtain MT01 as a DIY-solution is absolutely attractive. With our community discount code, you’ll start at about €146 ($158) with 2.1 meters. By the way, the discount code is valid for all HomeKit and Matter products in the Zemismart store.
