IKEA continues to expand its own Smarthome system and wants to offer a waterproof motion sensor in the future. Our colleagues from Caschy’s blog have discovered a corresponding entry at the FCC.

The product range for IKEA’s Smarthome system includes numerous lamps, blinds, air purifiers, switches, plugs, speakers and more. While a motion sensor has been available for indoor use for a long time, a corresponding device for outdoor use has been missing until now.

However, that is set to change soon. A new sensor called “Vallhorn” has appeared, which is protected against splashing water thanks to IP44 rating. The device is powered by two AAA batteries.

As soon as we know more and IKEA officially announces the new motion sensor or lists it in the online store, we will of course inform you.
