IKEA is expanding its Home Smart range with three sensors, as reported by our Danish colleagues at iNPUT. In the future, IKEA plans to offer a contact sensor, a new motion detector, and a water sensor.
IKEA Parasoll
The IKEA Parasoll is a door and window contact sensor powered by a AAA battery, designed to last up to three years. The contact sensor is expected to be available for approximately 10 euros starting in January 2024.
IKEA Vallhorn
The IKEA Vallhorn is another motion detector suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It carries an IP44 waterproof certification, making it weather-resistant and suitable for various environments. This sensor requires two AAA batteries and will be available for under 10 euros starting in January 2024.
IKEA Bathroom ring
The IKEA Badring is a water sensor designed to detect leaks or water damage early. This new device is expected to be available from April 2024.
With the DIRIGERA Hub, IKEA has already prepared for the upcoming Smarthome standard, Matter, even though the associated firmware update is still pending. If the hub is already in use, various devices can be integrated into the Apple Home ecosystem cost-effectively right now.
