SwitchBot introduced a new temperature and humidity monitor for indoor and outdoor use. The sensor is also designed for mobile use on the go.
The device measures 60 × 28 × 20 mm, 44 g (including batteries), and is powered by two AAA batteries that are expected to last up to two years. In addition, the UV-resistant sensor has the IP65 protection class. Thus, dust cannot penetrate and it is protected against water jets from any direction. Thanks to the Bluetooth 4.2 connection, the sensor is also perfect for use on the go, with a range of up to 120 meters.
According to the manufacturer, the interior relies on a high-quality Swiss Sensirion sensor that quickly and accurately captures the measured data. The smart thermo-hygrometer can sense a temperature range from – 20 °C (- 40 ℃, when used with lithium batteries) up to 60 ℃, with a humidity range from 0 to 100% RH. So you can use the device almost everywhere, wherever accurate monitoring of temperature and humidity is helpful for you.
The SwitchBot App provides precise and attractively displayed information about the current and past values. The sensor itself stores the data locally for up to 68 days. In combination with a SwitchBot Hub, the data is documented for up to two years. In addition, the recorded values can also be exported as a .csv file for further use.
The meter supports dew point and VPD measurements with absolute humidity (Vapor Pressure Deficit), as well as classic temperature and humidity measurements. With a SwitchBot Hub, the app can send a notification when a preset value is exceeded so you can react to changes in the refrigerator, greenhouse, or anywhere else that is relevant to you. Both the SwitchBot Hub mini and the new Hub 2, which will receive a corresponding over-the-air (OTA) firmware update in May, can be used for this purpose.
Use via Siri shortcuts, IFTTT, Alexa and Google Home is already available. If you are part of the SwitchBot ecosystem, you can of course also create automations via the app, for example in interaction with the other SwitchBot devices.
Using the new SwitchBot Smart Thermo-Hygrometer in combination with the Hub 2 will bring additional particularly exciting functions in the future. With an upcoming update, the temperature and humidity of the new external thermo-hygrometer can be shown directly on the display of the Hub 2. SwitchBot also assures in conjunction with the Hub 2 that there will be a firmware update later this year, which will integrate the new temperature sensor into Apple HomeKit via Matter.
