For HomeKit users, this might not be new, but from now on, users who rely solely on IKEA’s smarthome system can also control their devices remotely.

IKEA has released version 1.16.2 of their own app. While most countries primarily received bug fixes, the Swedish furniture giant mentions the new “Control Anywhere” feature in the release notes for selected countries.

What’s being referred to is remote access, allowing users to control the devices not just on-site via their smartphone, but also while on the go. HomeKit users who have a Home Hub in use could, of course, already control the devices remotely even before this.

New feature is being rolled out gradually

But before you dive into the IKEA Home Smart app, here’s a quick note on availability. IKEA has decided to roll out the new feature gradually. In most countries, you’ll have to be patient.
