We have been waiting a long time for the HomeKit architecture upgrade announced at WWDC. With iOS 16.2, the upgrade was finally released for all users. However, Apple has now withdrawn the option due to numerous problems.

The new architecture should improve the response times of the devices as well as the stability, but also open the door for future new features. We have already performed the upgrade in the beta phase and had no problems.

However, other users, including some of you, complained about slow responding or even completely missing devices and that other family members could no longer be invited.

Apple has also noticed this and has pulled the ripcord for the time being. At least, numerous users who have not yet performed the upgrade report that this option has disappeared in the meantime.
